Musicians and artists dedicated to performing chamber music in Houston

Klimt's Vienna

Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 6 p.m.

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1311 Holman St, Houston, Texas

Go back to Vienna in the late 19th and early 20th centuries which predicted unprecedented changes in music and culture. Hear the music that was all on the plate of the typical Viennese audience member.

We will feature:

  • The world premiere of Richard StraussAriadne auf Naxos arias arranged by Kevin Dvorak for chamber orchestra with sopranos Dominique McCormick (Ariadne) and Julia Fox (Zerbinetta).
  • The Houston premier of Leoš Janáček’s Capriccio for Piano Left-Hand and Winds with pianist Scott Holshouser.
  • Alexander Zemlimsky’s Maiblumen blühten überall for Mezzo-Soprano and String Sextet with mezzo-soprano Sonja Bruzauskas, the amazing musicians of the Houston Symphony and directed by Dave Kirk and Keith Weber.
